Asilomar Conference Videos for Sale or Rent
If you missed the 1998 NAMA Foray in Asilomar, CA or simply want to re-live some of its highlights, you are in luck. Through the volunteer efforts of Sandy Hain, NAMA has available tapes of several of the foray presentations in VHS format which run the length of the original presentation, usually 40 minutes. The cost for rental to NAMA-affiliated clubs and NAMA members is $5.00 for a two week period of time (see page for Cape Girardeau Videos). Or they may be purchased outright by anyone for $29.95 each. All proceeds go to NAMA. Keep in mind that the presentations were recorded live and that one camera was used.

Truffle Diversity and Its Conservation
Jim Trappe, Ph.D. is one of the world's foremost experts on hypogeous
fungi. Truffles rely on animals for spore dispersal. Their unique
ecology deserves special consideration.
Mechanisms of Spore Liberation and Dispersal
Alan Bessette, Ph.D. has authored 12 books and in 1992 received NAMA's
award for outstanding contributions to amateur mycology. Dr. Bessette's
slide presentation and discussion educates us about how groups of fungi
have evolved to liberate and disperse their spores.
Ancestral and Future Medicines from Mushrooms
Paul Stamets succinctly describes his mycological background: "20 years, 4
books, 4 species! Have business, will travel!" He tells us about past,
present, and potential future uses of mushrooms to treat disease.
