If you do not want to share a room or bathroom there are several hotels located 10.7 miles away in Lake Saranac.  It will be prime summer vacation season so you will want to book early and they won’t be cheap.   The most expensive will be Hotel Saranac, Curio Collection by Hilton, followed by Best Western Saranac Lake, and the least expensive is the Sara Placid Inn & SuitesYou can look all these up on Tripadvisor or Orbitz or Kayak.

There is on-site camping in the Alumni Campground.  There are  22 Tent sites available at $5 per night.  These are primitive sites with no utilities and only pit toilets.   Campers can use the bathrooms and shower facilities in the Buxton Gymnasium.  You can check them out at and reserve at this website.  Once you have reserved and paid for your campsite you can register for the Foray as a commuter.  One tent per campsite but you can fit numerous people in you tent.

There are private and public campgrounds near Paul Smith’s, such as the Lake Saranac Public Campground.  Campsites cost $22 a night for New York residents and $27 for out-of-state campers, which is not much cheaper than the lowest cost room at Paul Smith’s. There is also Fish Creek Pond State Park. The camp sites cost the same as Lake Saranac.

We will be eating in the school cafeteria and so expect good, reasonably healthy college food.   The Tier 3 rooms do have  kitchens; if you have a special food needs that require you to prepare your own food this would be a good option.

Food at socials will be provided by the campus catering service.   Drinks will be available at a cash bar.
