This will be the first of an annual Alabama Mushroom Festival being hosted by the Alabama Mushroom Society. We will have vendors of all kinds with a focus on mushroom themed wares, food, guided mushroom forays, presentations by notable figures in the mycology community including Alan and Arleen Bessette, Alan Rockefeller, Bill Yule, Jay Justice and others, and a vouchering foray where we will be running DNA sequencing on collections to get a better understanding of the fungal diversity in Alabama. We have a limited number of campsites so prepurchase is recommended if you want to camp or there are chain hotels 20 minutes away in downtown Sylacauga. More info available at the Alabama Mushroom Society's Facebook page or their website.
