NAMA has been building our scholarship fund through member gifts, a silent auction, and our general fund for over two decades. In 2022/23 NAMA provided $9,159 in scholarships and in 2023/24 we have $9,914 committed to scholarships. Help us break $15,000 next year! 

NAMA Memorial Fellowship

The NAMA Memorial Fellowship was established in 1995 and is awarded annually to a promising graduate student in mycology selected by the Mycological Society of America. Applicants are evaluated on the basis of their scholastic merit, research ability and promise shown as a mycologist. These fellowships are intended as supplementary grants and may be used by the recipients in any way to further their graduate studies.

Recipients of the Memorial Fellowship receive $2,000, a one-year membership in NAMA, are invited to attend an annual foray (with room and board waived) and give a talk, and write an article for NAMA’s peer-reviewed journal, McIlvainea.

Donors provide the NAMA endowment fund with ongoing income and receive significant tax benefits, and most importantly, the personal satisfaction that comes from contributing to an organization whose resources are devoted to student, research and educational support.

NAMA is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization (EIN 31-6066799, documentation). Contributions to support the educational activities of NAMA are always welcome and are deductible as allowed by law. Gifts of any amount may be made for special occasions, such as birthdays, anniversaries, and for memorials.
