OUR SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
Dr. James C. Curry Foray Travel Scholarship
**Scholarship funds have been claimed for this Fiscal Year**
This scholarship is generously funded by Dr. James C. Curry, with a total $10,000 available! The goal of this scholarship is to help defray the cost of attending a foray, especially for youth attendees and attendees in need.
- $9,000 of that will be given to NAMA’s member clubs and associations to fund scholarships to their own local and regional forays.
- $1,000 of that will be used to subsidize travel to NAMA forays.
NAMA is charged with selecting 30 NAMA-affiliated clubs this fiscal year and providing them with $300 each. Each NAMA-affiliated club is authorized to administer the scholarship as they see fit but should award the scholarship within 12 months to help an attendee or an attendee in need to attend a mushroom foray. Funds may be used to send an attendee to a NAMA event.
All NAMA-affiliated mushroom clubs are eligible to apply! NAMA will award funds on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are exhausted; clubs that are not selected will automatically be eligible in the 2026/2027 fiscal year if the scholarship repeats.
NAMA Memorial Scholarship
The NAMA Memorial Fellowship was established to commemorate an amateur or professional mycologist designated annually by the NAMA Board of Trustees. The award consists of a $2,000 grant to a graduate student in mycology on the basis of scholastic merit, research ability, and promise shown as a mycologist. The student is selected and the award is administered by the Mycological Society of America. The requirements are the same as those for the MSA Graduate Fellowships, with the additional stipulation that the Fellow provides an article for McIlvainea.
