Dr. James Curry Scholarship

NAMA is pleased to announce the Dr. James C Curry Foray Scholarship for the 2024/2025 Fiscal Year.

This new scholarship is funded by Dr. James C Curry with $10,000 for the fiscal year.

• $9000 of that will be given to NAMA’s member clubs and associations to fund scholarships to their own local and regional forays.
• $1000 of that will be used by NAMA for scholarships for its own forays.

The goal of the scholarship is to help defray the cost of attending a foray, especially for youth attendees and attendees in need. 

NAMA is charged with selecting 30 of its clubs this fiscal year and providing them with $300 each. Each club or mycological association is authorized to administer the scholarship as they see fit, but should award the scholarship within 12 months to help a youth attendee or an attendee in need attend one of their forays. 

• NAMA thinks the respective clubs & associations should pay for the attendees registration to the event out of their. club funds and offer the $300 to the attendee as a way to defray the cost of attending a foray. 
• Dr. Curry requests (but does not require) that the sholarship student submit a brief article to their local club’s newsletter, or to NAMA’s Mycophile, or to the respective social media groups sharing their experience at the foray.
• NAMA and Dr. Curry hope to fund this scholarship in successive years so all 100 of NAMA’s member associations have a chance to award this scholarship.

If your club is NAMA affiliated, it is eligible to apply.  NAMA will choose club scholarship recipients randomly and clubs that are not selected will automatically be eligible in the 2025/2026 fiscal year if the the scholarship repeats.
