Dr. James Curry Scholarship

NAMA is pleased to announce the Dr. James Curry Foray Scholarship for the 2024/2025 Fiscal Year.

This new scholarship is funded by Dr. James Curry with $10,000 for the fiscal year.

• $9000 of that will be given to NAMA’s member clubs and associations to fund scholarships to their own local and regional forays.
• $1000 of that will be used by NAMA for scholarships for its own forays.

The goal of the foray is to help defray the cost of attending a foray, especially for youth attendees and attendees in need. 

NAMA is charged with selecting 30 of its clubs this fiscal year and providing them with $300 each. Each club or mycological association is authorized to administer the scholarship as they see fit, but should award the scholarship within 12 months to help a youth attendee or an attendee in need attend one of their forays. 

• NAMA thinks the respective clubs & associations should pay for the attendees registration to the event out of their. club funds and offer the $300 to the attendee as a way to defray the cost of attending a foray. 
• Dr. Curry requests (but does not require) that the sholarship student submit a brief article to their local club’s newsletter, or to NAMA’s Mycophile, or to the respective social media groups sharing their experience at the foray.
• NAMA and Dr. Curry hope to fund this scholarship in successive years so all 100 of NAMA’s member associations have a chance to award this scholarship.

If your Mycological association is a NAMA affiliated club, you are eligible to apply.  NAMA will choose the winners randomly and clubs that are not selected will automatically be eligible in the 2025/2026 fiscal year if the the scholarship repeats.
